Lead ammunition

1. Wild animals/birds simply don't live long enough to develop lead poisoning.
Several papers showing the impact of lead in deer carcasses affecting the re-introduction of condor. It's a matter of dose, farm animals will get lead poisoning from chweing old lead paint or discarded wet cell batteries as they pick up a toxic dose in a short time

Personally I don't have an emotional attachment to lead ammunition, but surely the best argument against its use is if an affordable, more environmentally friendly, ballistically superior exists. This is really something for the R & D & marketing depts. of the ammunition manufacturers to come up with and certainly not any TV celebrities contracted to the BBC
It does for shot in the form of tungsten based type shot but you needed to add the words ”affordable exists” as other than steel for shot the other non-toxic shot is very, very expensive.

When promoting the benefits of steel shot they also conveniently keep forgetting to mention the 28ga and .410 which given the recommendation of going two sizes larger in pellet size for steel shot to make up for its lower mass compared to lead means very poor patterns would result from the 28ga and .410 When using steel shot.
