Lead update.

The main implications for rifles is the limiting of .243 versatility. A shame as that was the strength of the .243. 58 to 105grain bullets now limited to 80grain copper only!

People are absolute whoppers. I'm target shooting, eld's work absolutely sound for deer 🤟
Hopefully someone develops a backbone and tells them to jog on. Marksmanship skills are going to massively reduce because people can't afford to be going on range days with their mates sending 60+ rounds down range. There's going to be more deer running around the countryside injured because of lack of marksmanship and that's without half of the shoddy lead free ammo being sent through them 😂

For non FB users (like me) do you have a brief round up?
Anything 6mm/243 and above is deemed a 'large calibre' and is set for the restriction. Anything under that for shooting live quarry is fine to carry on (22creed is sounding good right now) and anything target appears lead free or with appropriate bits in place to catch all this horrible lead.

It was to be expected and was an inevitability to be honest. At this point it’s now going to be how quickly this gets forced through, how much of it can be fought by us and the shooting orgs and reduced along the way, and then based on whatever we end up with what the final impact is.

Suspect there might end up being a number of old shotguns, .410’s and unusual chamberings that get reduced to a handful of outings per year or become obsolete.

I’m thinking not so mental as it could be. Useful derogation for small calibres and target shooting. Everything else will go on as normal a few high pheasant shoots knackered but those who can afford that can afford bismuth?!

as far as I could read, there was a recognition of an exposure risk but not what the impact of that exposure was. surely cheaper to just let it stand as it is - the consumers of 'risky' meat are pretty much gonna be the people that shoot it anyway ( n evidence to back that up mind :-) )

tbh, I didnt think 243 was big enough for the big boys out there.

Pretty much as I had feared all along. Never mind I’ve got a lead pot 😂
Thankfully my two 12's can cope with steel. My Norica 410 3 shot bolt hasn't got a hope 😞
Steel and humane dispatch at short range don't make a good mix.

Time to buy some shot and search out .410 recipes.

Or stockpile. 410 carts?
