It is worth spending time in the larder, getting some 'practice' in.

Just saying , caution doesn't have to mean revocation. One should take good legal advice beforehand as usualI highly recommend you talk that through very carefully with a good legally trained person before risking a trial, if you are ever in such a situation. "Not in the public interest " is a big question mark . I do side with you that the CPS likely wont go for it , its just the stakes are high , it is possible to keep your FAC with a caution on record
Well I shall follow that advice the next time I look in my shaving mirror. I don't accept it would go to trial, there are several options to this senario

sounds more like avoiding an almighty pile of paperwork!!Sanity and rationality, thank god.

Perhaps not.So if I was back in the UK, travelling to work on my motorbike with my trusty Opinel in my pocket when PC Smith decided he wanted a word...... do you honestly believe "it's for euthanizing reason deer" is going to fly?
How is the Gamekeepers new spaniel pup coming on? Will it be out this season?Perhaps not.
It depends on the circumstances.
I work as a Gamekeeper. I use it for work. The lock mechanism is a safety device. That is my 'reasonable excuse'.
Just out of interest - what is the law in NZ?

I did something similar many, many years ago. Early morning, fresh dead roe, gralloched it and hung it on a tree well out of sight from the road, to collect on my way home.Resurrecting an old thread here but reminded of an incident that happened to me about 30 years ago. I was travelling by motorcycle on my usual 60 mile commute and came across a freshly killed roe doe by the side of the road. I discreetly gralloched the beast (Swiss army knife) and hid it, it was the middle of winter so no worry about spoilage. On my way home I stopped and wrapped it in bin bags then strapped it to the back of the bike and rode home. When I stopped at home I realised that one side of the bike and my left leg were absolutely, I mean completely, covered in blood. No idea what other road users thought but nobody approached me! From memory it ate well.![]()
I hope they were appreciative.I did something similar many, many years ago. Early morning, fresh dead roe, gralloched it and hung it on a tree well out of sight from the road, to collect on my way home.
Except someone had pinched it by then!
