Led Zeppelin

Robert Plant was a lurcher lover and had a beddy X grey Arthur , no ego with him sound guy signed a few albums for me !

Went to see Robert Plant at a music festival in the desert just outside Timbuktu, Mali

Took about 6 weeks to get there in our 4x4

Turned out that he had been due to feature in a previous year’s concert

Something got lost in translation

Fascinating experience though

I remember watching footage from when he appeared in the 2003 festival in desert, amazing stuff

Last but one time I had lunch in a pub in Worcestershire, Robert Plant was a few tables away also having lunch. Won’t name the pub because he’s a regular there.

Unbelievable, well done mate, now that's some adventure! always wanted to go. The Festival in the Desert. I think it has now been cancelled thanks to Al Quieda, threatening everyone that dares to play electronic music. Thousands of guitars & other instruments burnt, folk threatened with beatings having their tongue cut out or death. Robert was a pioneer in promoting Malian music, bands like Tinariwen, Bombino, Ali Farke Toure, all masters of the Saharan blues. Slightly sick with envy. Thanks for sharing.

No not really, they were as big in the UK as in the US, for example the Earls Court concert in 75 and Knebworth in 79. They were not liked by the London based music press who used to regularly give them bad reviews in the music press. Probably because they were mainstream focussed and could not cope withe the energy, charisma and sheer balls out attitude of the greatest rock band in the world.

I think this is what I remember. They were not liked by the music press in their day. Billboard here in the States panned all their albums.

I guess the liberal media sucked even back then lol.
