Not sure if it’s any help but my father recently passed away so I am now selling a BSA Lee Enfield SMLE No.2 MkIV .22 Cadet rifle.

Basically a sleeved .303 I believe. It has got .22 stamped on the action though??
It’s 1911 do WW1 era.

Unfortunately I don’t have my FAC yet and struggling to get anyone to sign a permission form. Plenty want me to shoot on their land but seem to shy away when the pen comes out

I am assuming that you are holding this on a S7 exception pending disposal or retention on your own FAC.

Speak to the local FEO. In extremis, I would seek to keep it on my own FAC but without ammunition. This would allow you to keep hold of a family heirloom until you sorted out your permission to shoot over land or joined a shooting club.

I do not think that it is going to change your life, but if it had belonged to my Father, then I would look to keep it and pass it on to my own son/daughter/non-binary.

As per earlier post - you have a little bit of history there and on two fronts. One is that of the rifle which if it could only talk
would be able to tell you very many things about its 120 years life; the other is that of your father who by the look of the rifle’s condition, thought much of this rifle. Everytime you shoot it, lift it or just look at it you will/should remember him - a cherished souvenir of your dad which should be used by you and in time passed down the family.
