Lee or Rcbs

I am about to start reloading but a little unsure which manufacture to use. Both will do what I need of them. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I use Lee for reloading four different rifle calibres, never any problems.
I'm sure that some other makes will do better specific things, but for straight forward reloading Lee dies are good.

RCBS & never look back!
Brilliant back up service from the USA if you should have issues & need replacement parts, usually supplied FOC under their lifetime warranty.

I would add to this that if you’re starting out one of the best investments you can make is a lee loader to learn the rudiments of reloading, if you can find one in your chosen calibre. It’s no frills and gives you the basics so you can decide if reloading is for you before shelling out £££ on lots of specialist kit. You might find it’s not for you

I’d also say that you don’t need hundreds of pounds worth of kit- you can make very acceptable ammunition with quite basic equipment

I have both still using a Lee press that I aquired 30+ years ago but mainly use RCBS dies and powder trickler and
Hornady scales and a Speers manual a real mix match but it works.

I started with Lee and still have a few bits but mainly RCBS now as I think their stuff is perfect for a stalker who wants better quality and accuracy but not benchrest standard.

I've got a total mix of makes of reloading equipment and the only brand that I have had any real issues with is Lee. That's not to say that I won't still continue to buy Lee products it's just that you get what you pay for and Lee are cheap and cheerful but they do the job. On the other hand the back up warranty which I can personally attest to from RCBS just like Dillon is legendary, and so while not the absolute best quality still well worth the extra money in my opinion if you are serious and can afford it.

When l started reloading it just so happened that l acquired an almost complete RCBS set up for very little money (still using it) but at that time l was pistol shooting and the most convenient dies to buy were Lee (still got them also), but when l started reloading for rifle calibre’s l chose RCBS.

I have had problems with Lee shell holders, they did replace the defective ones but whilst waiting l purchased RCBS replacements, what a difference, won’t be buying anymore Lee shell holders !

All l would recommend is compare both products side by side and decide for yourself what product to go with.

Lee press and the wee case prep tools. NOT Lee dies or scales, just don't cut it. Lee plastic powder scoops are dirt cheap and excellent value rather than a powder thrower buy them and then just trickle the rest out a wee plastic container. Lee primer seater and case trimmer die things.

RCBS for dies, scales, and also some hand tools.

Redding, Wilson dies if you want the ultimate.

Once again thanks for your time and opinions, i want to buy the right gear the first time. I’m leaning towards Rcbs at present but will see. 😉

I started off with Lee. Made extremely accurate ammo. Ok in small quantities and I still use lee hand primer on occasion, havent used collet dies for a while though.
I have an RCBS press, but use redding and forster dies exclusively. Also a redding press and a harrels.
If you shoot a lot, or want to reload for a long period of time Id say, buy REDDING. Quality is excellent. Buy once, cry once.

A quality beam scale is essential-RCBS is v good here. Id suggest you buy a TARGETMASTER for quick accurate powder measuring or a redding powder comp thrower, superbly accurate.
