Have read a few reviews online and they have all been positive
Thought I’d ask on here to see how they are for stalking

As all my rifles came with 'scopes when I acquired hem...No4(T), Pattern '14 Mk1 (T) and an old Mauser with clawmounts and a Hensoldt 'scope first decent 'scope that I bought, on its own, and paid for to fit on a rifle was a Leupold 6x42 with the duplex reticule.

I put it on a BSA Supersport .22LR. It was an excellent 'scope. Out in rain or shine. It also worked well for lamping and finished its time on my BSA Hunter in .22 Hornet. They were actually the first quality 'scopes that you could get in the UK with a 1" tube as all the German stuff was still 26mm tube size then in the late 1970s/early 1980s.

Like all things though make sure it is genuine Leupold and also that you like the price. They are good 'scopes. But things move on and for my opinion it'd depend on the price. As a 'scope for a .22LR it'd be hard to beat...if under 100.00. Would I stalk now with just a fixed 6x? I wouldn't if I had a choice. I'd choose a variable 2-7 or 3-9. Preferring the 2-7 for woodland use.

Thinking of a scope for my 243 for stalking and the odd fox
I do like the 4 type reticle and a simple point and shoot scope with good glass

It'll do very well for foxes. And if you experiment you can also work out how much hold over at various distances. Using the constant gap between the broad posts and the centre of the 'scope where the crosshairs meet as a rangefinder in fact. The beauty of a fixed power 'scope is that that skill is easy to learn as the reticule is always what it is.

So just take it out on a fine day and do some measuring against a two foot long wide plank, standing on its edge, parallel to the ground. Use the broad side posts see what space it takes up at a known distance. XX lengths of fox body between the reticules/centre = YYY yards; AA heights of deer chest between the bottom post and the centre = ZZZ yards and so on.

Yep it’s got a Stoney Point turret fitted too so could have a zero for 80grain and a second zero for 100grain
Just never used a Leupold scope before
Had S&B / Swarovski / Meopta / Docter - when it came up cheap thought I’d give it a go

I've got one with the fine duplex reticle on my .270 and I like it a lot. Had one with the A4 reticle on my .222.

They're really lightweight and good quality. You won't be disappointed.

Everything I’ve heard/read about them has been very good!
Can I ask ... how do they perform in low light - dusk / dawn and in woodland??

Cheers!

I have one 8x40 it has been a brilliant scope, used on my centrefire for many years.it is now on my 22lr.i bought it around 1988/1989 for £250 so it has done me proud.

Got it for £150 posted in as new condition boxed with all paperwork
It was only £50 cheaper than the laminate 243 :)

I would say you have got your money’s worth!
They come with a full lifetime warranty not limited to the original owner too!

It, my Leupold 6x42, worked well enough for lamping rabbits that, with my BSA Hunter .22 Hornet I could see well enough through it to head shoot rabbits, for eating so that was the only choice, at 100 yards with Winchester factory 40 grain soft point.

A 6x42 fixed scope is ideal for 99% of UK deer stalking scenario's.
Leupold is a solid Brand with excellent products.
The 4 type ret is simple, easy to use, and effective.

Received the scope through the post today :)
It really is as new :)
Checked the serial number and it was made in 2003

Optics look very good and are very clear!

Looks to be a good buy!

I’ve got one from the 70’s, it was on my .22lr for a couple of years and has recently been promoted to my .222. They’re lovely bright scopes! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Yes the view does look very bright and the reticle looks very sharp too.
Have noticed that the zero adjusters don’t “click” have done a bit of research and they have what they call friction lock turrets....
