Live round stuck in body die.

Die firmly held in vise and hearing defenders in place......hacksawed part way through case head until I could see I'd gone through the wall, tried shaking powder out but no show, back on the hacksaw....primer went off and popped out of its pocket.
Where I'd been sawing was still solid brass except for the flash hole, hence the powder not coming out before I cut all the way through.
Once I'd cut the end off the powder flowed out through the flash hole.
I put a brass rod of the right size into the top of the die and a few taps with the he rubber hammer and the case came out.

You were luckier than you know. The only reason the primer didn‘t ignite the charge was that you more or less closed the flash hole with swarf by sawing into the case head. Man ….

So ok - do share. How and why did you get a live round stuck in a die and which die was it?

It wouldn’t chamber so he decided to resize it ?????

The main thing that occurs to me is that surely it would have been easier to treat the die like the head of a "kinetic hammer" type bullet puller. Attach a shaft to the die and hit it against something like a block of pine until the bullet separated from the case. That would have dealt with most of the risk involved and would most likely have left you in possession of a useable case....

Hmm. Still trying to figure out which die….
Sooo, just whilst the “deafening” silence continues - my friend once drove a live treble two bullet into a neck sizing/depriming die thinking it was a crimping die - boy did I he have lots of fun extracting it. Do you know just how much force a press lever exerts and how well jammed a live round can be in such a die?
My friend does, silly boy….
