been with lloyds bank for many years never had a problem until recently, a friend who i had known for what thirty plus years was selling a ride on mower he no longer used so i agreed to buy it, he delivered it to my house so I asked him for his bank detail to transfer the money, a few hundred pounds, transaction was stoped by lloyds bank as i tried to pay him with a app message to phone lloyds bank which i did.
It was the fraud prevention team, passed the normal security questions and was then asked about the transaction, who was I paying, what was I buying, I explained paying a friend, had the mower, etc they asked if I was being intimidated or pressured into paying, I said no, how did I get his bank details, said he is sitting next to me and I have his bank card in my hand, then they explained risks due to scams, I said how can it be a scam when I have the mower? finally they declined the payment

concluding I was being scammed

so how do I pay him I asked their reply use paypal

I said i do not use paypal, what gives you the authority to say I cannot spend my money? use paypal

end of call.
had to go to the bank and draw the money out as cash to pay my friend.
