Locking wheel nuts 😡

@Jon P That's how I feel about locking wheel nuts - they will slow down an opportunist thief.

There a lot more car theft then home invasion thankfully, they know the police have very little time for car related thefts, just give you a crime number to pass to your insurance.

Unfortunately there are not enough police to get round everything, so anything I can do to slow down or secure my property is what I'm going to do. Last time I had the police round for a theft on the farm, the chap said 'the best form of security is to make sure whatever you have is one step better than your neighbour'. I think we are the last farm on the hill to have never lost a quad bike - though I'm sure given enough time the little bastards will have it away.

Not sure if it's common, but at £150 a corner for a decent AT tyre I'm leaving my locking wheelnuts on!

Some scrote took a Chinese made locking wheel nut key to mine, and f*cked them so badly that they needed to be drilled out by the dealer. Still, cheaper than a full set of alloys and tyres, so mine are staying on as well.

Aye, you got lucky the scrote hasn’t been watching YouTube. I got mine off within seconds using 15/16 socket whacked on.

I suppose for you fancy folk with flash motors it’s worth it though. But it’s a rarity now days it has to be said. Where were you parked?

I lost a locking nut (left it on after a puncture) but had the original nuts still. A quick trip to Honda, and their service guys gave me their workshop box of different lock nut keys, five minutes in their car park to find the right one from the box, and five minutes to swap back all the lock nuts to the normal nuts.
May be worth a trip to a dealer of the tool is the only issue

My car had the same issue, air tightened by garage gorilla. The " special tool" split as the threads were buggered .
12mm cobalt drill and a chisel ate the nut/ stud after much bad language on my part.
The modern curse easy to steal with or without tools available in any parts shop so a pointless item now.
