Long range 22LR ammunition

Has anyone got any info or experience on long range ammunition such as SK long range, Lapua long range, RWS R+ etc. I really like the idea of long range 22LR and have shot mine with varying success out to 300 yards, however, it was using CCI target or Eley match with the dedicated Hawke 22 graduated reticle - it is very good to around 175 but then it starts being a bit of a lottery.

Obviously the graduated reticle is for use with 22LR ammo with a velocity or 1040-1090 and 38-40gr (which CCI falls nicely into)

But if you wanted to stretch out have people found the long range ammo beneficial? Would hi-velocity ammo be any more consistent?

Obviously th scope graduation would not apply but it wouldn’t take long to get used to it.

At Bisley on Sunday (3 Sept 2023) the ammunition of choice was RWS R100. I'm not sure why I am noted as using R50, as it was actually R100. SK Long Range Match is not bad, but not as good as the R100.

Would like to thank these guys for having their prize giving at the L&M,it meant we had somewhere for food and drinks after the gallery rifle nationals...👍

I am a big fan of the Lapua Midas+, which I think is their 'mid-range' offering. Exceptionally consistent - and those who have tried on my recommendation have also been happy. Far superior to Eley Tenex - in my gun anyway.

anywhere North that you can shoot this?
Not that I'm aware of. Scoring is the main issue as electronic targets don't detect the .22 bullets. I find practicing very tricky - the only thing that I can do is use a large Shoot N C target, but as ever the issue is finding a safe venue for this. I have taken the .22 to Eskdalemuir to shoot at the gongs, but you need a good sand back drop for that to work well. I did go to Blairadam one day as a guest with a .22, but we weren't shooting at the advertised distance and at that time I couldn't quickly adjust my sights, so I didn't shoot.

Real good match shooters travel internationally to test and purchase their ammo - Yeah it matters !
However away from serious accuracy matches with the lead recovery requirement coming in there aint going to be the demand in the UK i suspect

The chap shooting next to me on the 300yrd firing point at Bisley a couple of years ago was using Tenex. I think he mentioned 46 minutes of elevation.

Sounds about correct Elevation would be the easy bit of things though with any reasonable wind , mind you its a flat and easy range right ?
