Long range slug guns ….. anyone playing ?

Have seen fox’s out to seventy yards die very convincingly after been shot with a fac 25 cal, and thermal.
Seventy yards chest shots perfect from what i have seen, Heart shots still exit if side on, it was a education.
Same person used 30 cal for over a year and concluded 25 cal for him was a better choice but this will not surprise
Those that own am sure.

I’ve been tempted to either get an additional barrrl for my crown or swap it in for something different but am hesitant to do it until we know which direction a possible lead ban would go. It’s a lot of money and time to be spending to find they could be obsolete in a few years.

That would encourage me to do it now and enjoy it before any potential ban, that may, or may not happen in our lifetime.

Ordered one a couple of weeks ago, Already have a .30 FX Bobcat and a Theoben Rapid, If I can get the FX M3 to shoot as well as my Rapid I will be very happy.

All this chat about the lead ban and air rifles will be fit for the bin blah blah blah .

Listern gentleman . The world of non-toxic is only a problem when you rifle is not equipped to shoot it , 99% of the time it’s twist rates or not being able to push them fast enough .

Now in the case of your old school FAC rifles yes I agree your fukct but with impact ( I can’t / won’t comment on something I’ve never owned. But if your rifle is built to shoot slugs then you have a load of options
In the case of my Impact

If I need a faster twist …….. I just buy a new barrel liner £90.00 or a complete new barrel kit £350.00 so many to choice from .

My seating depth is too deep / not deep enough ……. Just buy another in the size I need £35.00

My MV is not fast enough ………. Hmmm well I just turn it up to what’s needed .

My groups are in need of a slight tune …….. I can adjust my MV in as little as 2 fps increments .

So this will enable me to tune just about anything I put down the barrel .

And I always have the option of just swapping out the calibre for another for under £200 .
The big boys in the world of Air power are so heavily invested in there products it will be these guys that will come up with some cracking alternatives when and if needed .

These things have more options than the small bore rifles I can think of .

I’m 99% sure I think we was using the Zan 35 grn running @ 1000 fps so about 77 ftlbs that’s with a 700mm barrel .

Our 800mm barrel will send a 40 grn at 1040 fps 96ftlbs

This was the start of all of this for us .

And like true children with access to grown up money we pretty much went straight and bought one each 😁

A question, as posted ive the Maverick in .25 sniper , 700mm barrel is it worth getting the 800 barrel ??

Nice 👍

I would say it boils down to what you want it for I spose . I have the 800mm .25 on way from Huma-air

Mine will be be for long range fast heavy slugs . Ooo I can’t wait 😂

I've got an FX Crown 22 FAC that I can turn down to 14ft lbs for rates and it's doing around 40 ft lbs for pigeons and the like. Just recently I got an FX Dreamline .25 which is doing about 70 ft lbs for longer-range rabbits.
I was in my local gun shop yesterday and we were chatting about lead-free for the .25. It turned out he had some, and I almost got a tin till I found out they were £22 for 150! I've stocked up on lead!

I’ve just been looking in my box of bits and I have just Re-found the bag rider I ordered months ago , wife have a flick around with the duster and the rider was never seen again until now . So that’s going on tonight .

Now for the most important question:

Are these ‘tuneable’ wonders of modern technology & imagination available in a configuration other than that more in keeping with the weapons carried by Met Police Officers on duty outside Buck Palace?

I’m thinking classic and thumbhole walnut or laminate hunting profiled stocks and actions drilled or grooved to receive scope mounts as distinct from rails?

K

I have the crown in grey laminate and got this over an impact or wildcat because it feels more like a rifle if that makes sense.
One on top of two. Not wanting to go down the lead ban route any more than we have to but if it comes we are stuffed on the air rifles world. We need the soft lead to ultimately do what is needed when shooting pests. Using tin pellets in a building in my opinion is a big no no. They ricochet all over the place and don’t deform well enough to finish off pigeons etc.
