Louis De Soyza sentenced for murder.

It was a .41 Colt revolver. These use Colt's E Frame. I have in the past handled such a gun. This is NOT a S & W Model 36 J Frame size or even a Colt D Frame size used on a Detective Special. This, the E Frame is the same size frame later used for the .357 Magnum Colt Trooper save for a strengthened top strap. In a gun with a five inch barrel and a six round capacity cylinder. It is not a small gun, it is not a "pocket revolver" it is a full size "belt pistol" meaning a weapon of such a size as would worn on a belt in a holster as the primary carry sidearm of a uniformed police officer. And yet they didn't find it? I stand by what I wrote. And yes they will have to carry that fact with them for the rest of their lives. So be it.

I did jury service and prosecution witness duties at Exeter Crown Court.
There was a walk through detector and a paddle detector in use.
More security a long way after the crime it seems?
The Police need as much ,they are the first line of defence for us.

To locate a revolver under your arm….yes I think there is….if done properly.

Not finding an item that large during a search and especially a handgun is incompetence.

Fair enough.

You are of course, all entitled to your views on this dreadful topic - and I do respect that.

Whilst this is perhaps not the time or the place, to share with you the story of a 'young in service' Officer - who in very similar circumstances, ended up staring down the barrel of a revolver - it may help with context.

More through luck than anything, that Officer 'lived to die another day'.

He got to complete his '30 years', and he got to retire away to the country - and because he got to complete his '30 years' and retire away to the country - he is perhaps, more forgiving of those who came after him.

Do not be too hard on these young Officers, they will be doing that all by themselves.

I was more thoroughly searched going into a Sex Pistols gig at the Brixton Academy 15+ years ago than I was going into a very well known government building for work.
