LDNS will be hosting a forum open to all who are interested in deer management in the Lowlands of Scotland, on Thursday 14 March 2024 at 7pm online.
The topics for this initial meeting will be focusing on the Scottish Government’s consultation, “Managing deer for climate and nature”.
To inform you directly on the consultation we will be joined by a Scottish Government representative will explain the broad principles laid out in the consultation which includes proposals to modernise the legislation which governs deer management in Scotland and ensure it is fit for purpose in the context of the biodiversity and climate crises.
This will allow discussions around the 6 themes which include proposals for additional regulatory powers, further revisions to deer seasons and safeguards to deer welfare through a competency register.
The online forum will be hosted by the chairman John Bruce, supported by Jamie Hammond from NatureScot, who invite interested persons to register for an invitation by emailing adm1nldns@gmail.com, an invitation and agenda will be circulated prior to the event.
Please ensure that your name is readily identifiable, especially if a coded email is in use.
Please note that emails will be retained to facilitate communications in future unless you state otherwise.
