Magnum primers.

Last time I went to get some primers all they had was S&B magnum primers in small rifle. I understand that these are hotter than standard primers. I presume I should drop my powder a little to compensate is this correct.
Also I have been given some pistol primers now these look the same as small rifle but can they be used safely in my 224.

Yes to the S&B magnum, just rework your load with a lower charge. No don’t use the pistol primers as they won’t withstand the pressure
