Magtech Primers - Garbage!

Been reloading over twelve years now. This is my fifth calibre to load up for & lucky enough to have only had two hang fires over a lot of rounds!
Primer shortage at present so I snapped up Magtech to work up loads, fine tune then chrono.
Within 65 rounds I’ve had four hang fires (seated fully) & two pierced/blown mid way through on two different loads, remaining up to max ok with no pressure signs on case or primer. I’ll be using this for target & on a new build I’m not having hot gas cutting the tip of my firing pin frequently & randomly so these are getting moved on real cheap & real quick! Garbage.
Can you share the batch number or lot details from the packaging please?

I’m about 700 into 4000 LR in various calibres, no hang fires but 3 or 4 that have failed to go off. Not ideal so will be for target or stalking I am not paying for!

@Rusty Gate what is the batch number?

Sorry, my mistake! Failed to go off not hang fire. Just had a convo with a colleague prior to the post & typed that in error.
I’m not the only one on this so hope it’s a batch issue for you guys ( small rifle primers ).
Mine have gone & replaced, just in time for our range to close 🙈🤣

Is there a product recall or batch issue you can share?
Not that I’m aware of. If someone has an issue with a product then without the batch or lot No we can’t check.
With the numbers the manufacturers can start the process.
I did a few years in QA for the industry I’m in and it starts with proper records!

Same, dealt with Audi/VW product recalls

Very small data set and some issues that just because they didn’t present with other primers doesn’t solely indicate the primer
Pierced primers could be a number of issues

We must have used 50,000 in ammo to date
Not aware of the kind of fail to fire rate or incident described and people are usually very quick to contact with any issue

What lot number do you have?
What load?
What rifle?

Any evidence of light strike?
One in mine, as I say, across several firearms do not a firearm issue.

It may just be a bad batch, away from the loading room but I’ll post batch number when I can, would be interesting to compare to others.

A bit of a bugger as I have 4-5000 of them, all the same batch.

Have a couple of thousand SR too, so will be interesting to see how they fare.

a friend who is in the states at the moment messeged me, he was in a big gunshop, and and asked the guy about shortages of primers, he took him in the back, and was shown pallets of primers all makes cci federal winchester etc bs

could he bring me back a thousand each of BR4's and Federal 215's please? :-)

Magtech LRP, first use of new box, 6.5 CM 25 rounds loaded, 5 of which didn't go bang, which is 20%. Describing the failed strikes, they all appeared as though the metal of the primer was "softer" or had less structure to it, if you can picture that.

No problems with Magtech SR on AR-15 semi auto rifle. Visually looks much less flattened than CCI 400 with same powder load.

Did you get to the bottom of if this was a batch issue? Be good to share the batch info for comparison please.

I'm must have used circa 6k of small and large rifle magtech with no issues

Had an issue once which was not primer related as I hadn't removed enough crimp on .223 brass and was slightly crushing the primers (both remmy and magtech) so no ignition. This was soon fixed and worked with no issue after

I've had 5 misfires out of one tray of 100 Magtech thus far, after running out of CCI. Across 2 rifles. Good solid strikes, just no bang!
