Hi fellow stalkers,

I just bought a Mauser M18 Pure (the laminated version) in .308 Win caliber and 51 cm barrel. I am also using a Nielsen Paradox 45 suppressor.

Now I’m looking at some ammo and I want to shoot lead free. So far my choices are Sako Powerhead Blade, Federal Trophy Copper, Geco Star and Geco Zero.
After reviewing some forums, reddit and fellow hunters’ opinions, I am leaning torwards Sako.

But I want to hear some opinions. I saw some folks say that Federal has very non-consistent groups. And I saw some photos of harvested animals shot with Geco Zero and the exit wounds were HUGE. I do not know if it was the distance or maybe a bone was hit.

Thank you for your opinions and help!

simple answer buy three boxes of ammo, go to your range shoot and see what groups well in your rifle.then go shoot some animals. you have to damage animals to kill them !

Yea that I did figure on my own. I just wanted to see if anybody has a M18 and uses any of the ammo I stated. I just want to know the grouping and success rates.

I’ve shot 150gn Sako super hammerhead through a .308 Mauser M12 for the past 6 years and switched to 162gn blades a year ago. Both group well and have pretty much the same trajectory and point of impact, I’m talking real life stalking here not target.
I tried a box of Federal and one of Nosler but Sako were the winner in my rifle at least.

As with most people I’m still unsure of the non lead rounds. The one difference I’ve noticed is that the occasional muntjac seems to be much less damaged, almost as if they go right through with little expansion, fallow by the way drop just as quick with either.
