Meat Eater

I really enjoy the series and am a few episodes in. Very interested by his obvious Vortex and Forstlite sponsorship. We’re obsessed about German glass but if he’s using Vortex it can’t be that bad can it and its about half the price!

See my post ‘Quality versus quantity’ in the Equipment section. Vortex and Hawke gave my Swaro a run for its money!

Season 8 of ME is now on Netflix -worth a look especially for the 3rd episode on Sika in the US
Yep. Good telly. Interesting that Steve Rinella never mentions calibres. I suspect he wishes to avoid it being another "Gun programme" and if so I get that completely given his MO is gather process cook and eat ,however it would be interesting to know what he is using eh?

He does briefly turn to that subject, but only on his website, quite articulately and stating that it is his personal preference - not the correct/only choice.

From what I've seen on NetFlix, FB and elsewhere he comes across as a very level-headed, well-spoken and calm sort. A very good ambassador for our kind of sport.

We call it a wheel barrow :coat:
Actually the contraption he used to extract the Sika in the Chesapeake Bay episode reminded me of a barrow I used when I did a lot more carp fishing years ago - got me to thinking that I might just dig it out again, all my carp gear probably weighed more than most fallow what with me being a tackle tart and all

If you haven’t listened to his podcasts then they’re worth a listen too. He has quite a few interesting guests too, such as Roy Weatherby’s son.

You should read Rinella's books. Excellent. Really very good.

After 8 series I'm finding the TV show is getting repetitive. I wrote him a note via his website to explain why, and got a lovely and well reasoned reply back. I was a bit disappointed in season 8 and wished they'd be able to go somewhere very different, like Guyana in season 7.

Its interesting that Remi, Ryan and Janis are all trying to leverage the show and launch their own careers. Its a crowded marketplace. I wish them all the best as I like them and their respective styles.

Same here. I’d be really interested to try some. I expect there’s a decent thread somewhere covering Vortex

When I was shopping for a scope I was always told the amercan made glass isn't as good for the light conditions we have over here but that's all rumours. I've a pair of vortex Binos and my mate has a vortex scope and they are both fantastic glass. Can't complain at all about them.

I think it's a bit of snobbery. If you don't have Swaros or a Schmidt and Bender then you're not a real hunter.
