Meopta optics warranty problems!

19/3/21 Update regarding Meopta warranty work. MEOPTA OWNERS BEWARE.

I eventually got a reply from Meopta Customer Service in the Czech Republic (after a 3 month wait) - the cost of a seal repair and nitrogen purge would be around £170 as the scope is out of warranty (only 10 years). Then there is cost of postage to them, duty charged in the Czech Republic (approx £30), return postage (£20) and any tax/VAT levied in the UK upon the item return. So a minimum of £250.

Ruag and Meopta both confirm they are having severe problems resolving export/import problems so there is virtually no new or warranty stock moving between the UK and the Czech factory. No sign of a resolution in sight. Thanks Brexit!

As my Artemis scope was bought for less than £250 originally - it will now be binned and I'll buy a replacement scope - probably a Vortex or Hawke scope with a transferable lifetime warranty.

I'm lucky as this is my only (and last Meopta optic) - all you other Meopta scope owners beware - your warranty if it's still valid - probably isn't worth the paper its written on.
Theres a UK guy that services scopes & regased. Prob get his number here, I did a couple of years ago

Same problem, an outer ring on a very good Meopta Scope has perished and split, not the end of the world, the UK agent has five times emailed me with a reply "we have contacted Meopta", they all say they are I the post, four months have past ..... nothing. there is no reply now to a warranty on another Meopta Scope, the UK agent is doing nothing other than passing my address on, Meopta "Fob" them off by saying "its in the post" , four months !!! Basic certain signs of its not worth the paper its printed on...if I could get a 42mm outer ring, I would...but I am told "they are made for them for one use only" ... so they must have at least one...

I realise this was an old thread but the situation continues......
I purchased a secondhand scope off here a few years ago and now need a repair, warranty or not to the internals. I have just been informed the repair cost is over £500 (original price on the box is £495) so need to take this up with the importer as this situation is just ridiculous.

I thought Meopta scopes had a 30 year warranty.

Caveat Emptor!

So what your sayin is it’s out of warranty, and they will make your scope like new for 250, and it will have a warranty, what is the price of a new scope ? What can you buy for 250. It cost me 300 to have my Swarovski 6x42 gassed / serviced before brexit
As to change of distribiter the warranty is with meopta not Ruag they are only your distributors.

In the long past Marchwood were the distributors. I accidentally knocked off the illumination turret. Called them and returned it to them at a game fair. Received a brand new replacement FOC within a week. How things have changed. Still have it never been out of the box as NV went on that rifle.

I just looked at a few companies selling Meopta scopes and bino's here in Sweden. All show a 30 year guarantee. As for Meopta going bust because of problems honouring their guarantee in the UK, sales of Meopta products in the UK must be a very small part of there over all sales in Europe and the USA.

So an update to my above post.....

It turns out my scope is still in warranty for another year but the problem now is getting it back to the factory from the UK post brexit etc.

Anybody any advice on how best to do this, who to use, export/import paperwork, if any, and duties (vat) to pay etc?
RUAG have been helpful to a point but now instruct that I need to send it direct, oh and a copy of the paperwork to them :-|
As the importer I was assuming they would accept the parcel sent to them in the UK and they would process it from there, am I being niave and expecting too much?

Just an edit to add;
The warranty is stated as being 10 years unless extended.
Presumably this means registering for future bumph which isn't applicable to my unit.

Why are you talking about import/ export paperwork, in or out of the EU is irrelevant, we just post direct to manufacturing if they request it, and NZ is definitely not in the EU.
