Hikmicro Warranty

I've noticed discussion on a couple of classifieds recently about the Hikmicro warranty. These have been accompanied by claims that the warranty on used Hik products is transferable- however these have clearly been AI generated. The relevant section of Hikmicro's own website is less reassuring, stating:
'This limited warranty extends only to you and is not transferable to any other party and any transfer made in violation of this provision shall be void'
Has anyone had cause to use, or attempt to use, the warranty on a Hik thermal scope which they bought second hand?

Following............

The secondhand Thunder 3 I acquired off here registered up in the App immediately and shows the full warranty. I have thankfully yet had to try it!

I’ve bought 3 second hand Alpex’s, I’ve been able to apply the warranty to my account when registering them and setting up. On contacting HIK recently on a warrenty related issue they did ask for sellers details (this was on a new one I bought) but didn’t ask to see a receipt or invoice. If you weren’t able to transfer I’d imagine you wouldn’t be able to register it to a new account?

Being able to enter details into an app and being able to claim for defects via the warranty are different things, I fear.

@Bavarianbrit I notice that you posted a thread in March 2024 about Hik refusing to transfer warranty on a device you bought secondhand. What was the outcome?

Bring it into a HIK dealer and ask them to handle your return. My experience is that the distributor asks for the serial number from your dealer to check it's still in the warranty period and that's it. No question was asked whether I was the original owner.
