I honestly believe that sometimes this can be difficult for a male to push through.

I get that. I had the misfortune to be involved with an absolute spite of a woman once myself. Once I was past the point of no return she let her true colours show and proved herself to be a calculating, spiteful, thoroughly-nasty piece of work. When I caught her trying to give my beloved lab' paracetamol the worm finally turned. She flew for me with a screwdriver as a result and ended up with a sore jaw as I defended myself. And despite it being me who called the police I had some hard questions to answer as she was as devious as she was wicked. Turned out fine in the end as she was too stupid to remember all her lies, but it took the police some time to accept I was the victim rather than the instigator.

It took a long time for me to regain my pride following that relationship, and any bloke in the same boat has my complete sympathy

I'm damn sure I would've. In the company of the police officers she was reported to . . . .

Sometimes you just got to get them out of your life, & very gently at that. I tried to understand the reason why someone would behave like that, & what I found out was a horror story. How people could treat their children like that is beyond any human comprehension. Anyway she moved away, & as far as I know, she's married, her father is dead, and she's happy. Oh yeah, & her husband is still alive, so maybe she's managed to put the past behind her. I hope so.
