How do people keep midges away from around your kennels? Have never had this problem before but I have just moved house and the midges are awful around my kennels. I heard someone say that you can get a kennel disinfect that can deter them?

Have you got stagnant water about the place ? if so drain it . My Dogs never seem to show any reaction to midges

jayes fluid works well <if you can find the proper stuff not the watered down crap from supermarkets>

There are more than ever before this year, no doubt down to the extremely wet conditions. Clouds of the around in places I've not seen them before.

Midges are bad this year due to the ideal midge conditions of wet and warm and lots of trees . Not fun working up next to spadeadam at times !! Had to start smoking a few times just to keep the midges at bay 😳
In the Base they used to use propane midge eaters that work well but do go through the gas so I was told .
Move would be my suggestion if you up near wark or keilder or hope for a good hard frost

Spadeadam must be one of the worst places, I used to stalk up there for a few years and that’s the only place my old wire Ruddi would hate,I made a midge net for him in the Roebuck season we both used to get bit to pieces everywhere you went, to be honest nothing really worked except 2 layers of clothing wherever you could wear Them with out breaking out in a sweat
Love the place hate the midges over whelming

Had this problem when I lived in the Border hills, forestry at the back of kennels and boggy fields. My poor dogs suffered badly. I used Virkon to clean out and sprayed inside the sleeping quarters then shut up tight in the late evening. Walk to the truck from the house and change colour to grey in 20 yards, awful spot but fortunately I only get red spots which disappear in a couple of hours. Must be the rat poison I take. The wife couldn't take the shot on a buck one evening as her eyes were full of the little sods.

Midges breed in acidic soil. Get done bags of lime and spread them around garden and surrounding area and midges no longer flourish.

Need tons of it if up nr spadeadam or Wark ,keilder area might work but probably better to napalm the area from my experience of living and working there !! Only things to stop the midges are fag smoke and petrol in my experience 😳sometimes you need both !!🥵
