midland game fair what a joke, I used to go every year a great show tons of bargains, but not now, you need a mortgage to get in, and what for, gunmakers row none existant, 90 percent of visitors don't even shoot, stalls full of crap, scented candles, cushions, frying pans, and best of all, the sign on every stall game fair special,s nope not for me .

I've been going to the Midlands every year since 1987 missing just 3 year's. It's gradually got worse and worse, loosing all focus on the actual meaning of the show.
Game Fair. Most of the decline in exhibitors is due to the high cost of the pitches, nothing more. That has an obvious affect on attendees, those that take part in fieldsports stop going due to lack of stall holders showing gear they are interested in. That's it, the ripples start, next thing is its no more same as the Royal and the CLA.

For several years we used to attend the 4x4 and land Rover shows, and did quite well at them. We once sold 2 tons of highlift jacks in a Saturday morning so we weren't small players. Then prices started to rise for a pitch, and more and more shows came along. Punters only have x amount of money to spend per year, so if they attend more and more shows they spend less at each show. With quite substantial pitch price rises and punters spending less it became obvious it wasn't worth the effort, so we gave up.
