Missed off certificate.

My stepson recently moved house, informed EssexPolice firearms department that he had done so, sent off his certificate but when the new one with his current address was returned there was no mention of his shotgun on it. This apparently is not the first time this has happened in this forces area. Probably pay to check if you’ve been in the same situation as my stepson.

Happened to me with Met and Essex and as far as I can tell it happens in every other county as well. Usually really simple to fix and they should be apologetic. It’s worth checking.

ps. It helps if you keep copies of your certificates.

Always check any new certificate - that the right guns are listed, that the right serial numbers are listed, and that the permissions to acquire are correct.
Over the past 20 years ive probably sent my ticket back 3 times for errors to be corrected

I had three new certificates in a row after a variation that had mistakes on them. Lawaus double check. Their online system should normally still have the correct firearms on it, although not always!

As databases are becoming increasingly cloud based, taking copies of FAC, SGC and driving licenses is a must do.
Without historical evidence, changes to a database input errors are very difficult to get rectified as the changes overwrite the old information.
There is little reason for anyone to chase for any back up data as it only serves to show someone’s incompetence.

The last 2 Variations i had to send back due to errors. Its paramount to check them when you pick them up and refuse them if you see any discrepancy.
