Mod for a 300 win mag

What mods do you people with 300 win mags use a mate has just destroyed two mods and was after others opinions as to the correct mods rifle has been checked and is ok it seems the mods where not up to the challenge both failing after 5-6 shots all opinions will be passed to him thanks for your time

Have Sauers own Mod on my 404 it’s an F&D and I am very impressed with it as gave every PH I have hunted with abroad, I am not absolutely sure but there may be other opinions re F&D (I should have just let it go)

Got an ASE SL7 which is great for practice and use a DPT for stalking. ASE is bombproof but heavy.

I ordered my second Roedale moderator this afternoon, literally 30 minutes before reading your question. I’m delighted by the Roedale Hunter 55 I’ve had on my Helix 9.3x62 for two years and am happy to recommend Germany-based, British-born Pete Lincoln, his dedicated team and their products, which have a strong reputation over here! By the way, Pete confirmed that he still delivers to the UK, having figured out how to do so post-Brexit.

I live in Germany and am busy buying my son, who also hunts, his first own rifle for his 18th birthday and (German A-levels) next week. With safety a key consideration, I’ve stuck to the system he’s well-acquainted with and have sourced another Helix (Alpinist in .308 Win). Next priority on the list was the moderator, since I lost some of my hearing a long time ago in the South African Navy, and would prefer my son to retain his for as long as possible. Another Roedale was the obvious choice and I’ve gone for the Hunter 50k+ in cal. 30. (And now, on to the easy bits: scope, Dentler mountings, rifle sling)

before I ordered though, I referenced a recent, April 2021 test of 80 moderators in calibre 30 by local magazine “caliber”, which you may find useful. The article is in German, ranks the moderators by intended use (light for stalking, short for high seats etc) and highlights recent innovations, such as Roedale’s world-first titanium-3D-mods (for recent Euromillions winners). Of particular importance is the first shot performance versus a series of shots. After all, hunters will mostly fire a single shot and therefore that shot should be moderated as well as a longer series. The alphabetically-sorted table is on pp. 5 & 6 and the translated column headings are from left to right:
make, model, caliber, diameter, length, net length, weight, diameter of the “hole”, 5-shot average moderation, 1st shot moderation, delta between the two, and the RRP (€).

Sounds like the thread on the muzzle of the rifle has been cut off-centre to the bore.

No pictures? Suspect there was a baffle or end-cap strike.

An all-steel ASE UTRA mod is good, but even the best mod in the world won't survive a bullet.

Rifle was checked by another gun smith as suppling rfd failed to find the fault after first mod went bang and supplied a different mod a short carbon fat can this survived 5 shots hence the question of which should he have bought sorry no pics
