Moderator cover?

£12•50 posted. If anyone wants to buy it ? Sold my T8 and rifle it was on. Did the job though I fitted it the reverse way round, smaller hole end on barrel.

Do you want a cover to merely protect the surface finish of the mod or do you want it to also deaden any sound when you clatter it off branches or fence wire? Furthermore, do you want to be able to easily remove it for when you are shooting more than just one or two shots to help it cool quicker?
I tried inner tube but it was a pain in the hoop to remove for load development/plinking so I went back to a slip on neoprene cover that both protects and deadens the sound of any dinks. It also reduces any ringing from the mod.

These are excellent but spendy. I have one on an S5i.

The various badly stitched neoprene offerings and reels of tape trigger some deep rooted OCD in me that I never knew existed.

*edit someone beat me to it, ah well, another vote for these

Having finally ordered a 6mm Wildcat Evolution, primarily for its aesthetic, I won’t be sticking a clod of Cordura and Velcro over it!

No doubt they do what it is says on the tin though.

Would vet wrap work on a target rifle where I might be shooting say 20 shots in fairly quick succession?

In my experience it will curl up under heat. But why would you want any sort of mod cover on a target rifle at all?

I only wrap the bottom third with some textile electricians tape. Simply for a better grip on the mod for screwing it on and off. Also you can tear off a piece and stick it on the muzzle when it rains.

Nope!
Or at least yes but only if you want a permanent fix of very hard previously soft and stretchy tape!
I left it on my Utra and had a great day at the range shooting lots of .308 and by the time the moderator had cooled it had a very hard-baked camouflage skin which some years later is still there.

Complete mystery to me why anyone would spend more than about £1 on a moderator covering.

Really - a thick wool sock taped on with electrical tape would do.

These over engineered bits of canvas dressed up to look very tactical with straps and buckles and Velcro are about the most naked profit grab in shooting (and that’s saying a lot).

This ^

Costs pence and unlike the wrap around canvas tactical type things you see can’t see it when the scope is set to low mag.

I have a Blaser one and a neoprene one and they both have a habit of coming off. The Blaser one especially has been shot a few times by people.

bicycle inner tube 100%. best one i’ve found take seconds to get on/off buy one inner tube do all you mods with. some spare 🤣✔️
