Most reliable semi auto 12g

Hi guys I’m looking to get another 12g semi auto for wildfowling and pigeon shooting.
I’ve got an old hatsan which is on its last legs and looking for something that’s reliable.
I clean and look after my gear but the hatsan is a bit hit and miss.

I have had 3 semi autos including Beretta, and they have all been good, however the stand out in terms of reliability and low maintenance is the Benelli, they are not gas operated but have their own inertia system. They are bomb proof well engineered and robust, it would be a strong recommendation to anyone considering a semi auto

Got a beretta a400 extreme and a franchi affinity. The beretta is my go to gun but need to keep on top of the cleaning compared to the franchi. Had more jams with the beretta but that's down to me not keeping clean . Can pick up a franchi cheap enough and they bomb proof

I have a Beretta A300 outlander which is good with any shells of 24gms and over. It replaced an Armsan 12br which was way cheaper and to be honest pretty much as good. With Armsan I was less bothered about the odd scuff/dink.

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money have a good look at the Franchi Affinity. Its basically the Benelli M2 intertia action, built in the same Berretta factory but at a lower price point.

I bought mine about 10 years ago - at that time it was £100 more than a Hatsan. For me the much better handling and adjustable stock was the selling features.

It hasn’t missed a beat when fed a diet of 28 gram plus cartridges and recoil with 3” heavy steel loads is a non event.
