Most reliable semi auto 12g

I have superb 391 Urika 3 inch chamber for sale on here in a hard case for 400,you wont get a better gun for the money, welcome to try it at mine in Cornwall.

ive got a benelli M2, had it for about 10yrs. Its brilliant, usually cycles anything from light 21gram cartridges up. Only times its not cycled is when ive used mucky old cartridges that sometimes dont even work or light loads that haven't had enough recoil to cycle the inertia system. I just stripped it for probably the 3rd time in its life for a good clean as it was starting to feel stiff in the cycle. I wouldnt hesitate to buy another but I suspect I wont need to and will have it for life.

also if you do a lot of shooting the semi autos have less recoil. I used my Benelli M2 on 250 clays in one day with no problems on 21gram loads and no bruised shoulder. the inertia system is very reliable and comfortable to use.

Plus with Benelli you don’t get all that blow back from gas ports personally I can’t shoot wearing eye protection glasses.

As I said Benelli gets my vote 💯 %
though there will be some staunch believers in gas operated guns. If your a cllay shooter perhaps less recoil = a lot of cartridges.
That’s what separates the men fae the boys !

Buck.

Any of the higher end semis, as you’ve probably gathered - Browning, Beretta, Benelli will cycle just about anything. As has been mentioned though, the Benelli inertia action is hard to beat & doesn’t involve keeping gas ports clean.

My Browning Maxus is pretty bulletproof and chews through pretty much any cartridge without a problem.

Not really a modern thing and only for 2 3/4 shells but i like my old Breda and Browning Twelvette. A bit clunky in operation with the barrel sliding back but pretty reliable.
A Benelli SBE provided ( on mine) punchy shells are used otherwise its not always reliable in cycling.

Hi guys I’m looking to get another 12g semi auto for wildfowling and pigeon shooting.
I’ve got an old hatsan which is on its last legs and looking for something that’s reliable.
I clean and look after my gear but the hatsan is a bit hit and miss.
Consider if you need the super magnum 3.5” / 42g of steel / 63g lead. If you do This will limit options you can go for.

The beretta variants in 3.5” will Handel light loads too. I had an older a300 extreme (latterly badged as a 350) this managed 24g on clays no bother and short 65mm carts too. I think I remember reading at the time of considering guns, that others had found the benelli super Vinci (3,5”) would not fair well on light loads on account of a stronger spring needed for the heavier super magnum loads. The beretta, being gas operated, didn’t have this problem.

Of course if such an artillery piece is not required then this is useless information to you.

I have had 3 semi autos including Beretta, and they have all been good, however the stand out in terms of reliability and low maintenance is the Benelli, they are not gas operated but have their own inertia system. They are bomb proof well engineered and robust, it would be a strong recommendation to anyone considering a semi auto

I have a Benelli and highly recomend .

Fabarm XLR.
HP Steel proof multi choke
3" chamber.
Fastest cycling semi auto on the market
Various finishes.

Previously owned a Beretta, Hatsan, Franchi & Browning.

i currently have a browning maxus 2 with 3.5'' chamber brought for wildfowling , it's great but won't reliably cycle 21g clay loads but i would not expect it to

i have owned many over the years and all of them require a little more maintenance than a boggo o/u - s/s , i had an FAC 1100 for many years that would empty the 10rd mag over and over without issue i think most people have issues because they do not clean as they should or try to use specialist cartridges - most autos will cycle standard loads perfectly well

Armsang a612 new for around £450 new , plenty of second hand ones around £200.
I was going for a second hand Benelli for twice the price but the a612 was getting such good reviews I thought it was worth a punt.
