Annual MOT could be scrapped to ease cost of living crisis
It could see the average car driver save up to £54.85 or £29.65 for a motorbike
Spot on I'm 999 alsoGod help us! there are that many cars and bikes on the road now in dangerous condition even with in date MOT's
If I had wanted to, it was like shooting fish in a barrel when i was a copper..... i was traffic and a prohibition qualified officer with a military background that included servicing and inspecting vehicles..... mostly i gave an old fashioned rollicking rather than a ticket unless it was dangerous.
make it every two years and half the people won't realise that a percentage of their car has fallen off before then!
there are also a lot more differences between the TUV and the MOT though. Is it still the same where if you change the brand/model of tyre on your motorbike you have to the it back to the TUV.? spares are more expensive as they all have to have separate TUV marking etc. Here in Germany the mot "Tuv" runs test free from a new sale for the first three years then every two years, after that, always has and it works well.
How is £1 extra per week going to "ease the cost of living crisis"? Scrap the TV licence and gain £3 per week or scrap VAT on fuel which is already taxed before you add the VAT![]()
