Regarding the saving on the MOT, I myself use Kwik Fit, and usually pay around £25, now I am sure if it was changed to every 2 years, Kwik Fit and many other garages would charge the cost as set by the Ministry which is £55, so in reality it would/could cost more, don't the Govt know these things, you would think they had learned something when they put the cap on University Fees at £9200, and every Uni started charging that Fee. Same with the raising of the cap on Gas and Electricity, everyone charges as much as they are allowed to.

Surely the point here isn’t arguing whether or not the MOT could be or should be scrapped from a technical/mechanical/safety viewpoint but that some millionaires think that the soaring prices of many everyday essentials including fuel & energy can be offset by sticking £150 in everyone’s bank and knocking less than a quid a week off motoring costs!!

I agree but what’s the alternative? I for one vote conservative to prevent the other lunatics from getting in! Especially up here where the worst of the bunch is in partial power.
The Conservative party needs a complete overhaul but even in this sorry system they are a better prospect than Labour or the SNP!

I just can’t accept that to be the case though. I can’t understand how anyone else could do a worse job. Anyone with a shred of compassion and integrity would do a better job than this lot!! I’ve voted Tory almost all of my life, I was a paid up party member for years but this lot are an utter embarrassment. I just sat the other day and listened to an hour long interview with Kier Starmer - he at least appears to care about what he’s trying to do. Johnson cares about nothing other than himself. Honestly - right now - I’d vote for pretty much anyone else. We live in a country of millions - it simply can’t be the fact that Johnson & Co are the best we have - surely??
I sympathise with that outlook, but Johnson is not the Conservative party - just a part of it that needs to be changed….imagine someone like Corbyn or Abbot and Labour were in? Or the absolute lunatic Sturgeon and the SNP with thier ties to the greens - I just don’t see any alternative.
Starmer I cannot comment on, however he just seems like another lying politician going for personal gain as he seems to jump on every opportunity to bash other MP’s and try to make himself seem better.
Best of a bad bunch I’m afraid - and we are even more screwed up here with the lunatics running the majority of the asylum!

They will still do the same number of MOT's, just in a shorter time, the problem will be getting a booking, as they are short of testers, that means that there may be difficulty in getting the MOT done in time, most of Europe and Northern Ireland, have a 2 year MOT, and they seem to manage OK. Once it sorts itself out, there will probably be the same number each year needing an MOT, it's a bit similar in a way when people started getting paid monthly rather than weekly, seemed at first it would never work, nowadays its just normal.

Just done the hilux, all same information entered "obviously" and quotes ranging from 480 with lloyds up to 900 with direct line.

I remember buying a truck (1956 Chevy) In American and asked about vehicular inspections. I was told it’s up to the insurance company. So I went into the local insurance company and asked about it. They said “is that your truck on the parked on the road?” I said “yes” he said “looks ok to me” lol I still don’t think they have vehicles inspection in many US states but the do have sensible speed limits…….?
Most don’t, Texas do…but if you have an accident they can request your vehicle is inspected….although there are some real piles of turd driving around!
