Mrs starting to make comments !

Its simple, but takes a lot training.

Get grumpy and get grumpy that freezer is empty.

Go out stalking - come back happy with lots of venison etc

Come back happy, but after a wee while start getting grumpy again.

After a while the training starts working and you get sent out at first hint of grumpiness!!!!

You poor people being told what you can do in your own home. I can't understand why if it's a part of your enjoyment in life why you can't put them on the wall as a reminder of great days outs. I've also had people say they can't put them on the wall because they are worried what friends would say. If friends can't understand why I have them on the wall the answer is don't come back in my house.

Marriage is a complicated thing I guess in truth I can’t complain she keeps the house lovely does the painting reorganises everything slightly to often and so on. Never complains when I go fishing or stalking… Happy wife happy life I say.

Compromise - "you can have it on the kitchen wall as long as it matches the wall colour and I can have my mirror ball up"
Well, I gave in  20240823_091129.webp

I live in a flat measuring the lordly size of 48 square meters (about 520 sq. ft. at today rate). One book out of place is a mess and four books are a tragedy.
Few trophies are above the flat door, some in the stairs, and some more in the living room. I appreciated that Mrs. O gently tried to oppose presenting someone with a recent good roe, but enough is enough.

Lovely sir!
I expect there will be a few questions about the cased firearm…..

The cased firearm is a side by side combination made by Franz Sodia in the '30s. The rifled barrel is 7x72R, an obsolete cartridge performing like the .30-30 WCF, while the other barrel is a 16 ga.
The front trigger has the so called "Franzoesisches stecher", to set pulling it forward
The scope is a Kahles 4x24, with vertical adjustment only, while horizontally you can adjust with hammer and punch or with a sort of vise that I don't possess. The image is still clear after so many years, but the crosshair is bent, due to many falls while hunting.
The gun belonged to my late father in law and was instrumental in culling several roes and chamois from the '30s to the late 70s.
It is quietly resting in the case due to several causes: expensive and rare ammo, difficult reloading (Berdan primers!) but first of all for the curved trajectory.

That is one of the loveliest things I’ve seen on here.

What a lovely thing and thank you for the explanation and history sir.
I would always make a space on my wall for such a fine rifle but would always be very tempted to find or make a few rounds….

One of the reasons I love SD
A thread which takes one from a slightly tetchy Mrs N to an image of a true thing of beauty ( Not that Mrs N isn’t one of course 🫣)
