MSP tries o stop a new gun shop opening

This is appalling - a Member of The Scottish parliament has written to Police Scotland to try to stop a new gun shop opening in Edinburgh. Edinburgh Rifles currently trades on-line but Ed (an active SD member) wants to open a shop.
The MSP (who claims to support small businesses) is trying to stop him om the pre-text that it is close top a school. The MSP is well known for being anti-shooting.

SACS have joined the fight to condemn this https://www.sacs.org.uk/news/msp-tr...59GCLwgNgqTM16sabHhzfVxTllwLuzxEYe66mNDwtkyHY

Totally understand the frustration and upset this engenders in law-abiding shooting enthusiasts but plesse don't tell me this comes as a surprise?

Hope any appeal, if it comes to that, pronounces in the applicants favour.

Too many politicians trying to impose their will from a privileged influential position and they should be opposed robustly. I voted in the poll.

Just had a look at the facebook page, The local MSP need to start doing his job and sort out the rampant crime in HIS area, the pages show or reports endless crime and anti-social behaviour. This would be better than harassing a legitimate business.

Looks like the new shop will be the classiest place in that entire area. I can't think of any other reason I'd want to visit.

Living proof that the MSP should not hold office, total misconception (;)) by the 'member'.....

I'd wager they've not met Ed, nor have any rational grasp on the notion. Give them the stats for handgun shootings in Manchester, Liverpool, London, etc, and I think you'll find they'll call for a total ban on handguns there too!

He did not write to "police Scotland" he wrote a personal leter to
Gareth Blair
Division Commander
this is obviousely a personal letter as he starts the letter
dear Gareth and ends of with thanks Daniel
if this was an official letter he should have used the full title of the person he was speaking to and included his full title as MSP, it was shown he was an MSP as it was sent on official notepaper, but the terminoligy was such that these people know each other and as such Daniel was obviousely expecting a favour from his mate Gareth

this is such an obvious attempt at "abuse of power" that he should be brought up to explain his obvious predjudice against the shooting community
Cheers

Masonic handshakes?

I like the robustness of the response from SACS. Perhaps we should move the BASC HQ north of the border and introduce a bit more Scots straight-talking into the equation when dealing with the Westminster crowd.
