Muntjac in Cheshire !

they will when they see your Movember pictures Merlin a cert for a Blue Plaque .Saw a very dead Fallow in October at the side of the A55 where it crosses back into England by the Manchester exit a bit bloated she was .Not spotted any Munties out that way yet .

That would tie in with where I've seen them, on two occasions, both sides of the motorway.

Also at the junction between M56 and M6, but not sure if that's still in Cheshire?

I live pretty close to there, not seen any Munties though, although I believe they are to be found Northwich area

Never seen any muntjac in Cheshire, I'm sure there's the odd one prospecting or passing through.

I live a couple of miles from the Fishpool iv heard people say there here but never seen one lamping or hunting so not really having it tbh although there is a small pocket of deer near by.

I saw a Muntie in Nov last year at a stables near Manchester airport, just happily browsing and mooching about despite going past the same area dozens of times I've not seen it since. I have seen roe several times on the fields at the side of the M56 before you reach the Lymm interchange heading west

Scoby 270

I saw a couple of muntie's near Swettenham about eight years ago . I haven't seen any since though I did hear a couple were shot by guns on a local pheasant shoot

Plenty of reds in cheshire. Have 2 bits of ground with them on :)

There are certainly roe in both the Macclesfield and knutsford, lymm, Altrincham areas but not in decent numbers.

There are increasing numbers around marple and the edge of Macclesfield.

Muntjac have been around Northwich for years.

Dog men stop the spread of deer in Cheshire.

I look over the fields every night with NV and have never seen on near me and i watch over a couple of thousand acres and with a good moon i can see a long way but who knows

Cheshire is a deer desert, when you are talking Cheshire plain/Cheshire gap, there are no wild free living deer here, although I have used a 30 tonne Volvo loader shovel to bury a red hind killed on the Winsford road, & bladed up the quarry floor at night & next morning seen Muntie slots in the sand, along with other reliable peeps describing stuff shooting across the road early hours of the morning, This is not including the parts of Cheshire that have deer herds on estate.:suss::suss::suss::norty:

I live in south Manchester and run a shoot near knutsford
the roe are definatly moving in, never seen any deer close by until this year ,have seen three separate deer m56 area
no muntjac but live in hope

Theres one in my freezer but it didn,t come from cheshire,,,,,never seen one yet, they will be there somewhere, just not where i walk,

We have a fair few roe in and around Heywood, but, not enough to start shooting and eating ‘em.
I think long dogs kill some.
Ken.

Was out walking the dogs today and got talking to a guy that was obviously a shooter going off his attire.
He told me of a muntjac attacking (Trip to vet needed) a pet dog an old woman was walking in Milnrow!
The attack was witnessed by a gent who identified the deer as munty.
First I’ve heard of any being this far oop North.
Ken.
