I am trying to find my 'conversations" I have had with other members, is there a way to find them?

Click on the envelope icon at the top of the page. A drop down box should appear, detailing your last three conversations. Click "show all" at the bottom of the box, and that will bring up the rest of your conversations. You can then filter them according to recipient etc.

I did click on the envelope tab, yet only read it as "You have no recent conversations" I still have L plates as far computer navigation goes..
