Im after thermal bootsocks that actually work well.mine are mediocre at best and im fed up with blue hoofs. suggestions????

I have Alpenheat AH6 insoles, with an external battery. The wire easily reaches over the top of the long, shearling-lined boots I use for long, cold highseat events.; and the batteries clip to the top of the boots - or on your belt if you run extension-leads up the inside of your breeches/trousers.
Didn't fancy electric socks, because I have plenty socks already; and why buy an electric thing which needs washing?
Didn't fancy anything which meant there was a lithium battery actually inside my boot.

Cold feet are due to poor circulation. Boots too small and too tight. Have boots in which you can easily wiggle your toes. Decent merino wool socks. Add gaiters over boots. Do make sure your have good thick leather 3 to 4 season boot. Gaiters add additional insulation and keep water out.

More important make sure your core is warm. Thermal long johns and thermal top.

Couldn't agree more. I've always run hot but with cold feet, by chance ended up wearing thermal long John's and my feet were much warmer. Now a the thermals are a key part of my winter stalking/outdoor kit, and it has ro get much colder before I'm afflicted with cold feet.

And I find the same with gloves. I rarely wear them.

My best' foot warm maintainers are neoprene lined wellies no need for thick socks as well only sensible ones. I always' suffered cold feet and hands what ever I wore not any more cold feet. If terrain for boots is a must then I am back to square one.

BC.

Could try SealSkinz? I’ve always found them a bit warmer. As per previous comments don’t wear tight fitting boots and use gaiters. Skelllerup Quattro’s are a fantastic option and definitely well insulated and comfortable.

Excellent advice......shame that some types of medication - such as beta blockers can make the problem worse , he said with much feeling!

If on a high seat or doe box what works well for me is a sisal sack you get free from farmers etc then out of the rucksack and pop both feet into it and snug it up around the legs, you are not moving/walking so no danger.
Think sack race at school.

Battery-powered heated socks (Amazon), battery-powered heated gillet (Amazon) best investments last winter.
Bought myself a Carhartt Yukon Extremes insulated Coverall a few years ago, (basically a duck feather quilted onesie), layered up inside this on the coldest nights helps keep me warm as I suffer from bad circulation which is a pain at times.
Also made a cushion out of an old nylon/hessian sack and polystyrene beads from an old bean bag, only needs to be thin to keep your butt insulated and off of a cold seat.

Combination of good wool socks - I used Woolpower ones for years but now have a variety of different ones, & boots that aren’t too tight. You're looking to be able to move your toes about to get the blood circulating & socks that have the room to trap air that can be warmed up by your body heat - try using several pairs of thinner socks instead of one thicker pair, the Woolpower ones come in a range of different weights to enable you to do this. Good stout leather uppers are also going to be better than nylon/cordura type uppers, &, of course keeping feet dry is a must!

I wore wellies for my stalk last week. That'll be the last time for a few months now.

Binned it in empty handed after 2 hours as my feet got so cold.

Back to my lows boots for now
