My larder/chiller set up.

I'm in the process of putting together my own home larder. I was lucky to be able to purchase this 17ft long by 8ft wide with 240volt chiller unit.

I also managed to acquire the meat rails and hooks from the same place and double sink. It is extremely easy to clean and will run at temperatures right down to just below freezing although currently run it at 5oc.

Slowly putting it together getting things the way I want. Still got to fit water directly in and electric winch and get wired in lights and sockets but it works for me.

Nice one!
Same size, and very similar, to mine.
Split mine with a partition to give a chiller section and a butchery area. Works well.
Yeah that's the plan got another rail to go width ways and put a partition in to cut down on the area.

Excellent effort.

May I ask approximate cost?

So far unit and fixtures and fittings including delivery of the container to my door just over £3000 but haven't got it wired in properly yet just plugged in through a 16amp standard plug. Still have a few things to add plus wiring laying 50 meters of armoured cable down it'll be about another £500-1000 I would expect.

That's the same as the one I made, a word of warning if you keep it as one room when you swill the floor and wash the walls the moisture gets sucked up the back of the chiller unit and can freeze it solid, I found this out the hard way, I then split it in to two rooms. One for prep work and the back half was made into the chiller, hope this helps.

Cheers for the heads up.

It should have heaters in the defrost tubes to combat that problem, maybe their not fitted, normally 2 pipes run off the evaporator drip tray and out through the wall, if they have wires inside the pipes that the defrost heaters, assuming it has a defrost setting.
