My New Larder

The Adexa stuff is pretty reasonable and you can get the size you want. A big sink is really handy for washing the big stainless trays and sausages stuffer etc.
Thanks takbok! I hadn’t come across Adexa, but that’s a sink on order from them now. They had some perfect size and cheaper than the ones I was seeing on Facebook marketplace.

Excellent set up. How do you manhandle reds into the fridge from the place you originally hoist them up? Love the sink - I've been after one of these for ages!

@Antonyweeks thanks, I Iove the sink too!

I don't shoot a lot of reds and my fridge will only fit small ones whole, that I can bear hug into position (no better or more evocative smell for me than eau de red deer 🤗😂). I will quarter them for hanging in fridge if they're much over 50kg carcass.

I think you have done an amazing job. I would love to do the same; My wife hates me processing deer in the house. To have your own space is briliant.

@takbok what do you think the whole set up cost Rory? TIA
Hi Nick

It probably cost more than I think....

Very rough estimate below:

£600? for electrics and lighting (shared with workshop next door, includes armoured cable to house etc)
£300 plumbing & drainage
£200 paint and ironmongery
£500?? timber for new floor and hanging rails
£100 rubber flooring (3m x 3m room)
£550 Adexa Stainless units/sinks
A fair amount of time and sweat

Youve certinaly made a number of us envious. My butchery area is somewhat more compact, with a separate big walk in chiller
