Hi Guys. My brother and I have had our rimfires for a few years and been very successful keeping the rabbit and fox population under control on our sanctioned farms. Over the last 6 months the foxes have been getting a bit skitish and due to the vastness of our land, have been proving difficult to get in close to or call in.

Enter the new rifle...

Sighted it in last night, bullet on bullet at 100yds. Couldn't be more pleased with how it perfomed.

Looking forward to taking it out with the lamp!

Great rifle.
What cal ?
I have a sporter in 223 that shoots the cheap 50g hp AE ammo very well. Even out to over 300m.
Tikka's are well made.

I've got 2 of them. A 243 for deer/fox and the 223 for fox/crow/vermin. Love them both. Top accuracy and build quality
 
Sorry guys, I really did miss out some important credentials there! I opted for .243 so I could take on a bit of stalking as well. Got the bug after a few outings with a good friend. As soon as I can afford to feed myself again, il pop a moderator on it. Any suggestions?
 
nice rifles,out of interest who makes the scope also it looks like a 1" tube. as for moderator i use wild cat evolution on 243 and 6.5 very good also use ase utra on 223 and 308.all good moderators ,the wildcat evo are lighter.

I had one on my .17HMR and it left a deep scar around the barrel where it tightens on. I had the barrel shortened though and now have a SAK mod on it. I do agree that it is a tool and if it gets the job done, who cares. I do want to keep it fairly nice for at least a year. Then it can roll around in the back of the landrover with the rest of them!

Mine dont "scar" the barrel really.....just the usual ring mark that looks like its been polished on if that makes sense
 
Got a Jet Z compact. Use it for both rifles. Heavy but love it. Looks good on the rifle too and doesn't mark the barrel
 
I've said it before: the Tikka T3 Super Varmint is the most accurate out-the-box rifle I've ever owned. Mine is a .223 (1:12'' twist), and between us hunting mates there are six all up. Another .223 (1:8" twist), a .22-250, two .243s and a 7mm Rem Mag. All T3s, no new T3x yet. I've shot with all these rifles at some point and not one of them was any less accurate than my .223. They all wear DPT Suppressors, mine and the other .223 have Waters 10 shot mags and a couple have DPT bottom metal (we'll all have this mod sooner or later). The 7mm Rem Mag is a fantastic rifle - proper weight for a long range magnum, very well balanced - with the suppressor recoil is mild for the power and accuracy is the best I've ever seen out of any magnum rifle, period. It is a red stag slayer of note.

In the field, shooting 64gr Nosler Bonded Performance / Protected Points (38135), my .223 happily shoots 0.5-0.7MOA at 300yds depending on the wind, and drops fallow and red yearlings in their tracks. Neck shooting with this rifle is very straightforward. On the bench, with 55gr Nosler Varmageddons (17240), it delivers sub 0.5MOA one-ragged-hole with ease.

To get the best out of these rifles you need good glass just like Tweekes Nikon, sensible choice, and the right magnification range.

If your dpt or any overbarrel moderator is marking your barrel your bushing is too tight.
A properly fitted rear bushing shouldn't touch the barrel when the mod is fitted.

Not sure if you mean "it is easy" or "is it easy?" but if it is the latter, then the answer is yes. Mine is set at the minimum allowable on the factory trigger which on mine is spot on 2lb.
 
Out the box, the trigger was 3Ib. With a twist of a screw we've dropped it to 2.5Ib.
In the future, I may look into switching the stock for a GRS Berserk. I believe the Tikka sits perfectly in it.
