My On The Bench Today Thread

I recently started a thread in which I can clump together some of the culinary type knives that I make without cluttering the forum with a new thread every time, please keep an eye on it, if it’s a new post by me it it is probably a new knife.

In this thread I thought I could do a similar thing but show photos of things that are going on in the workshop and on the bench, the update photos that I share with clients, part finished stuff, WIP type shots, random stuff that doesn’t fit anywhere else.

I’ll start with this little clutch I have nearing completion at the moment…

Can I ask which models these are?

Three Secare ready for grinding (with added blood), a Leadwood over orange G10 P90 and a chunk of Walnut.

The Secare and Walnut are for over the holidays projects, the P90 is getting posted tomorrow.

At this stage, for me anyway, the blank (size/shape/profile) is not hard and fast, I fully expect a tweak here and there, both the client and I will be watching it develop and any modifications it might need, it will get.

Stuart, do people ask you to make a knife of set dimensions, or is it a case of they tell you what they want the knife for and you design it for them? Would you take into account someone's hand size for instance?

All of the above really.

Some folk have a set of very rigid parameters (these generally change a little though as the build develops), others just say I want to do this, see what you can come up with.

It can all be pretty fun at times
