My punishment or poor communication?

In May I booked an outing for mid June which was quite local to me, good news as I'm not aware of too much thats close to me and it would only be my 3rd outing for deer.

Two weeks before the stalk I had to cancel/postpone (due to a £600 unexpected car repair). Not something I wanted to cancel as people can be out of pocket but I gave as much notice as I could given the situation. Apologies given and it didnt seem to be a problem.

The outing was rebooked that same day for this weekend just gone (9th July) and supplied my phone number.
I offered to pay a deposit only to be told it wasnt necessary, just pay on the day.

28th June I ask to confirm what time we are meeting and ask for a phone number......no answer, no phone number supplied.

30th June I chase it up that we are still good for Saturday...no answer.

All the while these messages are being ignored, the member is online.

This place is going to take me 1.5hrs to drive to so its gets to 1.30pm on the day of the stalk and I'm getting a bit itchy.....I decide to tag the member in one of their old posts to give them a nudge....next thing the old post is deleted and I get a message saying 'I cant do tonight'...nothing else

Ive had no reply since, ghosted.

Is this me getting a kicking for having to postpone/cancel a stalk or just poor communication?
Thats just crap!

Best go with someone else

That is so unprofessional, you did everything right, plenty of notice given, then you were left in limbo, communication is key.

There is also a flip side to this, as I am typing this I should be fishing with a client, he redeemed a gift voucher, 06.20 I get a text, 'sorry to mess you around, dog ill, going to the vets.'
I believe him, but I have in effect lost a days income, I will let him rebook as I trust him.
On another occasion, a guy emailed me the day before, 'sorry I have had some work come in, I'll rebook' er, no you won't, is your work more important than mine?
I have also had on a couple of occasions people not even inform me they won't be coming and I'm left waiting in my truck, that is why I take deposits these days.

Think you've made the right decision to walk away. Wouldn't have been a pleasant atmosphere anyway - you slightly seething at his lack of courtesy, him annoyed for whatever reason kept him from replying. Hardly ideal for good rapport.

So, looking at the positives - a great stalking opportunity later in the year with a professional guide, albeit not this weekend.

We should be able to rate guides from 10 to 0 but yet again Sussex steve comes to the rescue. (No I have not been stalking yet due to my knee problems but look and judge for your self and yes we should name and shame as who as money to waste and guides should be able to do the same back about time waters) Can we have a section about guides and and there locations and a rating please lets get rid of the bad ones.

I was dreading having to tell them I'd have to postpone as I know the stigma people can obtain from such occurrences.
