My renewal diary, start to finish

01/03/2022 - Received reminder from Northumbria Police, took paperwork to doctors
16/04/2022 - Paperwork delivered to Northumbria Police
04/06/2022 - Doctors finally filled out paperwork and delivered to police (weekly phone calls to doctors asking why it was taking so long
21/08/2022 - FAC/SGC extended under section 28B for two months
02/09/2022 - Original expiry date of FAC/SGC
15/10/2022 - Sect 7 tickets issued
26/10/2022 - Home visit (as I had moved house and changed jobs since the process began)
30/12/2022 - Emailed firearms asking why it was taking so long, replied that it would be renewed and sent out the following week
12/01/2023 - Tickets arrived, with variation missing and expiry date as September, rang firearms to say it doesn't seem fair that I don't have a five year ticket to be told thats what the home office say, reminded them that the home office also set time scales for renewals 'awkward silence'. what about the missing variation?
14/01/2023 - Hopefully collect amended FAC on Saturday from the Police station

I do find it quite annoying that a department that used to do renewals in 4-6 weeks has come to this level of service

Is it common to see a 3 month delay between a home visit and a certificate arriving? I've had my home visit for a grant on Tuesday and was hoping it wouldn't be that long after. If its an option to pick the certificates up from them directly i would probably opt for that.

I don't know to be honest, the collection option never used to be done, I think I'm being allowed to collect as they have made a mistake with the issue of this one
