National campaign launched to tackle firearm certificate fraud

The NCA and police ought to have a granular level of detail on this which they can make available to BASC and the like. The entire point of firearms licensing (if it is not just to generate needless red tape for citizens) is so that the police know exactly who owns and where every firearm is.
If a fraudulent transaction has occurred, the police will have been notified at the time by the vendor, and then were under a duty to investigate, recover the firearm, and prosecute the buyer.
Either the data exists to provide to BASC or the entire licensing system is a fraud itself.

Lets hope we can also do something about the service provided by most firearms departments and the increase of fees to £400 that looks like it will be railroaded through without proper scrutiny by a load of socialist scum.

Hopefully the police will target the fraudsters and not the law abiding certificate holders with more restrictions and costs, I fear it will be the law abiding citizens that are punished insteas of criminals actions.
They won’t…it’s likely part of the multi-pronged attack on shooting and field sports. I hate to sound like a tin-foil hatted conspiracist but all these things coming at a similar time seems like there is an underlying agenda to wipe out “dangerous guns”…..

This posting your cert is bloody stupid
If the guns been rfd transferred then just put it onto their books , they keep it in trade and your recipient rfd puts it on your cert

No way I’d post a cert anywhere
You can’t avoid it is buying from certain counties in England - unless you just don’t purchase from them, and I’m my last case of this I had no choice unless I was willing to wait significantly longer or pay significantly more, that was with countryman of Derby, not their fault but the stupid “make up our own rules” firearms licensing system in that county.

How would one go about getting a F.O.I response on this? Would it be a simple case of applying for it? (Excuse my ignorance as I’ve never been through the process.)

I’d be happy to submit one though.

Edit - I’m in the process now - although the online info is garbage, nowhere is there a link to submit it, there’s pages of small print but no “submit a FOI request here” button and it’s got to be an e-mail for police Scotland…🙄

Regards,
Gixer

Don't forget the police firearms had a multi million £ computer system to link all the different licencing departments the length of Britain!
Does anyone know if they got it working, last I heard was that it never worked!!

Still transferring info from previous system.

Syntax error on line 01, there working on it.

Submitted a request to police Scotland for instances or occurrences whereby firearms or shotgun certs have been forged/copied/replicated illegally and used to obtain firearms or ammunition illegally.

Well I have popped the tinfoil hat on for this reply, it goes deeper than guns and gun ownership, it's about absolute control from birth to death from medical to food, imo they want us eating/addicted lab growing poisons and then sell us medications to supposedly fix the problem they created.
This all goes back to the hunting ban in 2004, it was never about foxes but the break up of communities and now farmers are being attacked with regulations and inheritance tax, lead ban, fake certificates, animal rights, LGBTQ, immigration all part of the globalist agenda 2030 its starting to be reality. You will own nothing and be happy.

Surely it’s high time for a root and branch review of the FAC and SCG process including a move into the 21st century in terms of the actual document? I’ve actually had some (albeit a long time ago) training in how to identify forged documents and I can assure you it’s not foolproof. Why not implement improved tech to assist? Bar coding / chip and pin cards / holograms watermarking like a passport would surely all help, I’d even pay a bit more to cover the cost. Current arrangements all seem very 1970s to me.

In response to a surge in firearm certificate fraud, the National Crime Agency (NCA) has launched a campaign under Project RUTIC to prevent the illegal acquisition of firearms and ammunition.

The NCA campaign focuses on educating firearm and shotgun certificate holders about key security measures during private firearms transfers.

Click the weblink below for more details:

Perhaps we all need to educate the NCA that career crooks who acquire and use firearms illegally are unable to do so when confined in jail?

1920s actually!

I think the National Crima Agency would have more effect on this alleged problem if they instead directed their efforts towards educating the Home Office and Police to have a certificate system fit for purpose, instead of the shambles of paper and unnecessary fabricated conditions and variations which occupies so much police time to the general detriment.
It's not an alleged problem. There have been multiple instances of fake FAC's acquiring firearms. The only immediate solutions would create significant additional strain on already stretched resources.

Maybe the resources could do with being used in a better manner?
Seems some constabularies can manage better than others.
