New barrel required.

I have two, .22/250 and .308, both shoot well, iirc the winner of the 2023 kings prize at bisley had a pendragon barrel fitted to his rifle
I’m not familiar with the Kings prize but sounds prestigious. I also have a 308 it’s my old trusty Remington had it more years than I recall.

Give the barrel a really good clean.

Most barrels wear at the throat first - its where the full force of the hot gas / burning powder has its effect. This can have a major effect on accuracy.
Seat l your bullets longer in the case so that they are closer to the lands. Given the change in barrel dynamics it may be that you need to work up a new load. Worth a try before spending lots of money on a new barrel.
I removed inches off the rifling from the throat from a .243 win barrel ( i still have the section ) I cut it lengthwise so it could be viewed as a training aid for new shooters . Sometimes the barrel decides its not going to give up ! Yet I have also seen others where very little damage / wear / erosion . Bore scopes are great for showing how good our clean the bore is regards copper / Hard carbon , yet only a reasonable guess as to how it shoots .

So I managed to drop over to see James at Jaeger and he kindly borescoped my 6.5 Creedmoor and also my 308 but he says the 6.5 barrel has a bit of life in it despite the fire cracking and the odd pit mark but the 308 is in worse condition as I thought. He didn’t charge me to do this which I thought was very decent of him and he’s given me a price for one barrel and a price for two barrels to do the work if want to go ahead. He has what he calls an express service that takes 4-6 weeks but costs extra. Can anyone else who is full time give me a cost for the work so I can compare, I like to get a few quotes before I decide.

More quotes -
Ronin and Neil McKillop has long established names on here.
Worth calling to check their diary schedule, and whether Ruger RPR rifles is something they have significant experience with.

I've never seen one tbh, and not sure if it's an AR style barrel rifle or otherwise

See if they can do a deal for two barrels...

Don't ask, don't get 👍

Thanks, if they can give me rough cost great. 👍🏻

Hot loads? The hammer forged barrels take quit a bit of abuse. I have the same in 308 and i have shot it unmercelessly. -Muir
Well I would say they are up there with 135 A-tips at just over 3000 fps. There maybe some life in it as it was checked out thoroughly and reported back.

There were significant issues with early RPR with regards alignment of the barrel tenon pocket at the machining (manufacturing) stage (in the action)

Having worked on numerous when they first came out, they are not something I have any interest in touching - just like bugara

He did but if I remember rightly he didn't pay James. Made up all sorts to try and get out of paying. I'd definitely give him a try.
You are 100% correct then he tried using Sharpshooting UK to bad mouth me but kicked me off before hand...

If anyone wants the full picture I have the whole conversation word for word as to what was requested, what was agreed and what was received. He was very happy until he got the invoice!

Met him, very full of himself. Definitely was pushing the ‘I’ll give you my expertise on product development for free optics and gear sort of thing’. Never engaged with him, just didn’t feel ‘right

New to the forum so slowly navigating my way around. I have a 6.5 Creedmoor Ruger I think is coming to the end of its life my groups have opened up a lot so possibly looking at a new barrel. Im not wanting to spend a lot of cash as I can get this done Stateside when I get back for around 600 bucks. I have spoken to some guys but thought I would ask here.
1 question how many rounds have you put through it?

Personally I have THRASHED a Ruger m77 in 270win as in over 6000 rounds I’ve personally put through it and it was second hand when I bought it!

When I sold it 15 years later it still shot sub MOA
