Hi,

Does anyone have advice on the legality of buying a firing pin from abroad into the UK. I read on the Gov website that a bolt is a restricted item. Will a firing pin also be considered restricted, info on Gov site not really clear and unsure which Department to contact.

Cheers

I can get one sent from a relative from Canada so wondering if this ok as for personal use only

thats not what cooper arms said to me, when i was after a replacment firing pin and spring, i hope its true what you said bs

The Canadian government has recently changed legislation on gun parts . You now need a firearms license to purchase parts . They're very reluctant to come up with shipping regs at the moment , so it's a 50/50 chance you will have your parts seized by Canada Customs . I currently have two packages destined for the UK sitting in Canada Customs . When I asked why , I was told it's because there isn't a clear set of regs regarding overseas shipping . In typical beaurocratic tradition , they've chosen to do nothing , even though it's still legal to ship things overseas . Oh Canada .

Hi,

It was actually posted by my brother, cleared UK customs then got sent to a sorting office for delivery, sat there for two weeks and is now shipped back to Canada, Royual Mail cannot say why it wasn't sent. OH Britain :)

If you can find one in the US, I would be happy to ship it on for you. If it makes you feel better I'll mix it with a few nuts and bolts and label it machine parts.

Thanks that is very kind of you, if it does make it back to my brother in Canada he is coming over next May so will probably wait until then and he can bring it, its' him bum they will check not mine :)

What’s the firing pin fitting into?
Believe it or not Ronin, it is for my mate in the Club, is on a Remington 700, his bolt is the J lock type and the spring is bound up so not smooth inside the bolt, the GreTan pins are by all accounts very good, Brownells list them but I thought I was being clever getting it from there, cheaper and I presumed faster. You live and learn, I think.
