new jacket. any ideas ?

Hi, I'm looking for a new coat, high collars, good storage pockets, waterproof etc but with high cut to it, a sort of waist or just below waist height coat. I was thinking of an Arctis falklands jacket but they are too long in the cut. Basically it needs to be waist height so that I can get to my trouser pockets etc. Any ideas ? I already have a Kammo field coat and a Ridgeline smock, both are superb.

Kind regards, Olaf

I have a harkila prohunter jacket, very very good, john norris has they at a huge reduction at the moment. Had mine 5 years and no issues at all, lots of very deep pockets and definately does not restrict access to trouser pockets as I have the prohunter trousers too. You will get lots of opinions negative and positive about all the brands, probably a good idea to go and try some stuff on!

Good luck, its a mine field!!

+1 also on nomad gear. I have had a smock for around 3 years now its its great and the driest coat i know as well as when compared to other big brand stuff like Musto and Schoffel.

Cheers folks, thanks for the ideas, I'm not too keen on the nomad kit that I've seen, quality stuff but just not to my liking. The Sitka looks good but its all cammo which I'm not too keen on either. I shall have to keep on searching. I am very tempted on a Thistle jacket though, there is a chap on this site who makes them too, its just that I'm after somthing with some padding and insulationto it.
Cheers, Olaf

I have the Thistle Lowlander and i find that it is a good jacket.

Surprisingly warm considering that it is very thin but i bought it as a jacket that wouldnt get too hot so thats ideal for me!

Not very robust though which is worth bearing in mind, good on the grouse moor picking up but not in heavy woodland / brambles.

Also have a pro hunter which is excellent and a Barbour Linhope Lightweight which i really rate but both are very warm!

I have a thistle lowlander and it is a good well made jacket but it is too noisy for me for stalking. I keep using the prohunter instead.
