New knife completed...for no particular reason

Knife-jig envy!

The knife in the OP is just stunning. The quality of that finish [2500 grit shows commitment to excellence] is really top draw.
Very kind words mate, thank you. Yes, a 'commitment to excellence' as you so kindly put it to many reads OCD. But I enjoy it and maybe one day soon I'll be able to spread that joy (if people genuinely feel that way?) Appreciate you comments buddy.

Knife jig envy made me laugh! 😄

Thank you mate...really appreciate the kind supportive words. You're probably right, I'm sure my wife would agree...I tend to sell myself short all the time. Mainly as I have such an innate aversion to arrogant, narcissistic, self-celebrating types...I'll do anything to avoid being perceived as one 🤣.

Your other comments really caught my attention. A grinding jig is not a problem tbh. Worked out ages ago I'm not confident freehand.

But my grinder is far from perfect. Home built from box steel badly welded together (but 100% straight) it's a beast but not in a good way. No vari speed soo it's full on 3hp at full revs all the time...bit scary when a belt let's go! And it doesn't run belts totally true to the platen no matter what I do. Its my next project actually...build a custom KRG (is it?) clone with a VRF and some wheels that cover all bases (1/2" diameter up to 12", interchangable).

Built my own jig about a year ago. Not a totally original idea but I baulked at the crazy price of buying one so did something about it. Works great so the least of my worries. Come to think of it, maybe I'd be better off making and selling those to knife makers?! 😀
I have looked at making my own belt grinder. I used one of those on a bench grinder types, useable but very very slow.
Unfortunately I just don’t have room at the moment.
You could definitely sell those jigs. I have seen a few for sale on the Facebook knife making pages. But nothing as good as that.

I was lucky to start my hand made collection in the 80's but i do know the scales on my buck 110 a jewel maker in the old Covent garden offered me £600 just for scales but as the knife was made by one of Navaja knife makers I got it from the maker on one of the stands , while i was shooting at the Desert classic practical pistol comps. I did't wish to see it striped just to make some posh pendents and ear rings  , scales are turquoise with a silver vain

as for the B110 there peanuts ,

I wonder how good you would get if you were let loose without financial constraint.o_O
I wonder too mate, but that's an impossible question right now. Maybe I do need to invest a bit more (no idea how or where from)? But I take your comment very positively as I know it was intended. Thank you 😊

Bleeding the chest cavity is indeed something I have seen in Scotland. I didn‘t understand it as the blood can also be let out towards the bottom. Whatever.
I always open up the rib cage as a standard, so bleeding in advance isn‘t an issue for me.
But regardless, every people have their own way 👍.
From my perspective as a high ground deer stalker we don’t open the chest due to deer extraction methods. Long drags or pony work inparticular. So to help prevent contamination of a carcass the less it’s ‘opened’ up the better. So bleed the chest but no opening of the chest or opening up the haunches in an way.

I was always taught that the cavity opening should be kept to a minimum for hygiene purposes so I've never opened the sternum for this reason, preferring the chest drain. And I feel that an intact sternum makes skinning easier.

Just the way I like to do it, of course.
