New T3x Ace game

Ideal
What's the weight of the setup as is?
Do you find it manages the recoil ok with it being as light as it must be?
This is fully loaded (mag and 3 rounds) in normal stalking configuration.

Initially as @Cotswold Sporting has also experienced I found the recoil much more noticeable but I then moved the Spartan adapter rearwards (virtually all of my shots are off sticks) and that stopped it jumping off my Blaser sticks adapter mod. The felt recoil is nothing - my issue was muzzle flip.

And that a lump of a Z6i 2.5-15x56 on it  Now running with an Oceania Defence mod on it too instead of the F&D UTS231 and that’s taken another 80g off it.
Great minds! I've just dropped my 16" .308 into MDT HNT 26 as well. Leica Fortis 2.5-15 x56 on top. The 16in barrel makes it very nimble. Ideal woodland stalking rifle. Have an Oceana Defense Alpine on order to complete the set up, but running it with a brake for now, which keeps it very nicely balanced and the brake deals well with the recoil.

I've been running my other rifles with a DPT mod with the added brake on the end.
Makes a big difference recoil wise, and is also quiet enough.

That seems like a great compromise. My .308 has a brake / mod combo that it came with, but it's a massive great contraption! Weighs about 600g! 🙃Totally unbalances it and defeats the object.
@wytonpjs has it right, I reckon, at least for where I do my stalking. Light and pointy

Id need to weigh the DPT but it won't be anywhere near that.
But yes a great compromise

Reading the blurb its around 290-310grams.

I'll take a wee look at the DPT. I've another use for the alpine in any case...

The UK site doesn't list the mod brake but they do have them.

That’s a real shame, especially as the Sig Cross hasn’t made it across in any considerable numbers.
T3x ACE is whole different market segment compared to Cross.

The buttstock to chassis interface is not very well designed (cumbersome to use) but neither are MDT stocks that cost almost as much as whole T3x ACE rifle...

I deal with Greenfields of Salisbury and have for years, an email asking for price and timings was replied to in around 12 hours as they had to ask GMK given I wanted the bronze coating. Then once I knew that price (1650) and avaliblity I said “yes please” which the reply was “ordered, I’ll let you know when it’s here”

No deposit.
So it’s a 9month wait for it in 300WM

That must be deeply annoying, also goes against what I was told by Sako (the guy in all their marketing videos as of late) at the BSS...... unless it's more a case of GMK being GMK.

Supposedly Sako/Tikka operate on 3 month cycle with the next due in June, a distributor needs to add what they need to the order book and it would be fuffield in that cycle.... I deliberately drilled into this with them on the stand as I could see what I wanted was non-standard.

I am just lucky according to dealer that what I want is already on the distributors order book thus April delivery....... although have seen in the past this grow from April to September on a Tikka a few years back.

3 month cycle might be the case when distributor orders a batch.

But for a single rifle in catalog configuration (i.e. you can find model code in their catalog) the lead time is one year here in Finland. And after the year you will know whether you get it or not... direct info from Sako sales manager.

Im kind of interested in the New T3X Ace game from Tikka in 308 with 20 inch barrel.

I think it looks great, and definitely ticks a lot of boxes for me. For £1600 it can be ordered in cerakote with a stainless barrel beneath which seems actually pretty reasonable. However the off putting thing is despite the description saying its got a lightweight barrel making it ideal for long hunts, it comes in at 4kg (or 4.2kg for the 24 inch barrel which just seems a bit heavy. My use case will be both stalking and the range but in reality probably 70/30 split (mostly stalking).

Anyone got these on pre order yet? I'm wondering if i can get myself to the shooting show and get hands on. In the meantime, has anyone else got on well stalking with a rifle around this weight (naked)? Im fit and strong but dont want to make things more difficult for no reason. Be keen to hear some opinions!
Any udpate on your thoughts on this, did you manage to hold one at the BSS. I'm also very interested in getting one of these but in 223 as a foxing rifle

Hi there,
I think Tikka website states fluted, medium profile barrel weight for the game version. 4kg in 20", 4.2kg in 24" = big heft, whichever way you cut it. Dragging a deer with that on your back? Looks awesome though. You pays your money....
