Any ewe that gives me the slightest bit of annoyance gets earnotched, and is first in line next time I'm drawing culls. I got rid of all the wanderers that way, but some came back again after I'd sold them 🤣
It would be great to be like that but we breed pedigree blackface. I doubt I'd keep my job long killing something that could potentially produce a tup worth more than my salary 😂

Even more important to have very rigorous selection criteria if you're producing tups for sale.
(I produce tups too. It's the main output from my flock).

There's a person that runs one of the farms up against our stalking property who's dog Is quite a bit more than that article VSS posted, Not a farmer but a dog Is literally invaluable too farmers especially on moorland grazing where quads have really limited access.

Something tells me at that price, It was the top pick of the litter Is a bitch and probably has the breeding rights for it.

As VSS mentions, a dog is better than a quad by far for rough ground.

I think so. I have fancied her ever since she was a small pup, and I've waited patiently for the opportunity to buy her.
It jolly well ought to be a good looker, and a good worker too. She comes off the same farm as this one:

I used to go to the fella who bought that for gundog training.

Was chatting to a mate today and he said he couldn't remember the last time he "trained" a collie reckoned the last 2 he's had have had to learn of the old dog and just get on with it😂 I like to get the basics in well in a round pen
That's all very well until the old dog dies, and then you realise that the youngster's been doing nothing except follow the old'un, and is completely useless on its own 🤣
No end of farmers fall into that trap.

Better by far to start a youngster with no other dog around, in my experience.

I've a spaniel I thought was brilliant till I took her out on her own 😂 a dog is always best started on their own, stops them leaning bad habits.

Making progress.
Not been pushing her hard as she was quite immature for her age, and I could easily have ruined her by forcing too much on her too soon, but she's suddenly moved away from puppyhood (better late than never), so we're getting along quite quickly now:

Ratel - Q "Always made it a case to train gundogs and tracking dogs individually." - UQ

Yep...golden rule.

He looks worse than me and I've got 30 years on him. (Profound apology Tim, couldn't resist).
