New to deer stalking

Afternoon all,

So, I’ve done my DSC1 and got insurance Etc got some land (I’ve been a farm worker most of my life so that but was easy) and I’ve had a cracking year learning the ropes.

What I would like to know is what is one bit of advice you would give me, someone new to the sport.

I actually really enjoy watching deer! What kind of things do you watch for?
Behaviour.
Things like where they are in different weather conditions, what their movements are at different times of day, feeding habits, herd hierarchy (if a herding species), territorial behavior (if a territorial species), routes to and from feeding grounds, etc etc.

Hi Mark, welcome to the sport! Sounds like you’ve managed one of the more difficult sides of the sport, land acquisition! So well done on that! What species have you got available to you on the land that you shoot?

Yes working on a farm most of my life made that happen quicker, in Norfolk we have Muntjac, Roe and we have recently got CWD

And in Essex Muntjac, Roe and Fallow
