Very nice. I have scope envy. I’ve got one of those in 6x42 and I’m on the lookout for a 4x to match.

That would be a 4x36 Zeiss then as I am not aware that any Zeiss 4x42"s were ever made. Open to correction though.

Very nice, I too have a Rigby in 275. It was a mess when I got it but Paul Roberts and his wonderful gunsmith restored it.
I have been trying to find a load that it likes but have now given up as it loves PPU 165 grn ammo.

Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of what looks like two grooves in the woodwork running down at an angle, one at each end of the loading / ejection port?

I can now answer the question! I took the rifle to Lee Butler at the weekend and he explained that the rifle was probably stocked by the same chap who did David Lloyd's rifles and it is mostly a stylistic thing. He felt that they were probably just knocking out stocks at a rate so they were all similar!
